Introduction

Launch or advance your career in forklift instruction with our Kent-based AITT Lift Truck Instructor and Examiner course. This in-depth 10-day programme is designed to equip you with the skills required to train, assess, and mentor lift truck operators to recognised industry standards.

If you are new to instruction, you will need to complete the full ten-day programme. For those already qualified, re-registration options are available through either a five-day refresher or a three-day AITT-only route.

What will be covered?

Course Content

All elements of the course must be completed successfully to achieve certification as a Lift Truck Instructor.

Candidates must meet the required eligibility criteria, and we strongly recommend a minimum of six months’ practical operating experience before attending.

Practical test to instructor standard
You will complete a practical driving assessment to instructor-level standards. A maximum of 25 penalty points is allowed for a pass. If the required level is not achieved on the first attempt, one additional attempt may be taken during the course.
Candidates must demonstrate a comprehensive pre-use inspection of the lift truck, ensuring all safety checks are completed correctly before operation.
Throughout the programme, you will deliver between three and four practical training sessions. These are assessed continuously, with detailed feedback and coaching provided to help improve your instructional delivery and confidence.
You will also deliver two classroom-based theory sessions. These are evaluated progressively, with guidance provided to support clear communication and effective teaching techniques.

Candidates must complete written reports based on observed operator testing, demonstrating the ability to accurately assess and record performance.
